Capital City Nurses holds two licenses in the State of Maryland.
Capital City Nurses is licensed by the Maryland Department
of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Does Capital City Nurses accept Medicare, Medicaid or insurance
payments?
No, it is private pay for all services. Capital City Nurses
will facilitate Long Term Care Insurance requirements for
our clients.
About Our Care Providers
What are the qualifications of nurses and caregivers that Capital City Nurses sends to their clients?
Capital City Nurses are experienced and skilled professionals and para-professionals. Every care provider has passed our thorough interview and, with rare exception, has at least one year of experience working in a hospital or nursing home. Every RN or LPN has a current nursing license and Nurses Aides possess their required certifications.
To become a Capital City Nurse, each care provider must have:
- Strong references
- A clean background check
- An up-to-date health certificate
- Current CPR certification
- Insurance
When interviewing a prospective candidate, we ask ourselves, "Would I want this person caring for my mother?" To become a Capital City Nurse, the answer must be a resounding, "Yes."
Are employees bonded and insured?
Capital City Nurses Registry is bonded and insured.
Capital City Nurses Health Care Services is insured, provides both general liability insurance and professional liability insurance.
What type of training do care providers have? Does the training cover Alzheimer's and dementia care?
Nurses Aides are trained before they work for our companies. However, Capital City Nurses provides in-services education. These in-services have cover such things as infection control, moving and lifting, range of motion exercises, Diabetes education, and newborn care.
Capital City Nurses has, on occasion, hired the Alzheimer's Association to provide Alzheimer and dementia training to our nursing assistants.

How quickly can I hire a nurse?
Nurses can begin work within 24 hours. In emergency situations, we can often place a nurse within a few hours.
Can you send someone to check up on my parent? I want to make sure she's ok.
Yes, we can go to your relative's home, meet with them, and provide you with a care assessment. If necessary, we can provide information and referrals to trusted eldercare experts in other fields such as law, case management, and medicine.
What is the minimum amount of hours for a shift?
Four hours is the minimum shift.
Do the caregivers drive?
Some do and can take clients to run errands or to doctor's appointments.
Will the same caregiver come each time service is needed?
We will always try to schedule the same caregiver consistently, depending on schedule requested and caregiver availability.
Does the client have to provide meals for the caregivers?
Only if the caregiver is living in.
Do services cost more for weekends?
No
Do services cost more for holidays?
Yes. Holidays are usually billed at 1 ½ the normal rate. Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, and New Years Day are billed at twice the usual rate.
